Homeplace Vineyard Wedding | South Central Virginia Wedding Photography

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to shoot the wedding of an absolutely wonderful couple. I have known Alex and Faith since they were high school sweethearts. I actually shot their prom photos one year! I don't shoot many weddings, but when the GROOM selects you as his photographer, contacts you months in advance, and the couple just absolutely states that I have to shoot their wedding...you just can't say no!

Woolfolk Wedding Preview | Altavista, Virginia Wedding Photography

Yesterday's wedding at the Avoca Museum was nothing short of sweet! I have been shooting Rae Anne since she was a senior in high school, and have loved working with her and Kavon. I knew these two cared for one another, but I truly saw how much they love each other yesterday! They had me jumping for excitement to shoot their "First Look," tearing up during the wedding, and itching to dance during their reception! I wanted to post a few previews for them before I leave for Indy tomorrow, so here they are! Check out their First Look! Yep, Kavon cried! Such a sweet moment!! And the bridesmaids approved! 2015-07-12_0001.jpg

After the wedding, I was able to steal them away for a couple of shots...such a lovely venue that brought back SO many memories, since it's also where I got married!! I wish you both nothing short of the best with your future life together!

Yates~Hepburn Wedding | Danville, Virginia Wedding Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing Chelsea & Tim's wedding on May 25th. I'm finally getting around to sharing some of my favorites from their ceremony! They had such a beautiful, simple wedding behind her parents home. It was so intimate...just perfect! Chelsea and Tim met at college, Liberty University. Tim recently graduated and is now serving in the Army as a field artillery officer. Chelsea plans to complete her final year at Liberty online, as they moved to Oklahoma 2 days after the wedding to start their new life together! You may remember seeing Chelsea's bridals on the blog...if you missed those, you will definitely want to check those out!

Here are a few highlights from their ceremony:

Chelsea's brother drove her up on the red Ford truck:) He got her out of the truck and handed her over to their Dad. So sweet!

Fain Wedding | Chatham, VA Photographer

The Fain Wedding was by far one of my favorite weddings ever. It was at their home, which made it more personal and intimate. The ceremony wasn't very elaborate, which I LOVED, and the reception was just a few good friends and family hanging out to celebrate! Here are a few of my favorites from their special evening:)

Chrissie looking back at her girls:)

Prayer...

Watching the girls "sign" a song...

Mr. & Mrs. Fain!

They were pretty serious about their cake;)

This one below is my absolute favorite!

Congrats to BR & Chrissie! May God bless your marriage for years to come:) Thanks for having me be part of your special day!

What I would have done differently... | Spin-off of OLAS Photography's wedding post | South Central VA On Location Photographer

My wedding was on October 9, 2010. It was an usually warm day for October. The location was at a local museum--The Avoca Museum, which is a big house. A really beautiful, big house. The wedding was outdoors and the location fit perfectly in to my vintage vibe.
So what would I have done differently? My inspiration for this post comes from a recent post by (once like a spark) photography. You can read that post here
1. Had WAY FEWER guests. I wish that my ceremony and reception could have been more intimate and personal. Don't get me wrong, I loved the way that our ceremony turned out. Just the way I wanted! But there were so many people there, that afterwards, I didn't get to talk to everyone! I had no clue that certain people were there until I read our guest album...sad.
2. Dancing. I wanted to have fun dancing at the reception, but we never got around to more than "our dances." We were trying to socialize and get photos taken. If there had been fewer guests, that would have resolved this problem. I also worried that there wouldn't be many people left to see us off, so we left the reception earlier than I wanted to. Why did I worry? Was it really that big of a deal? NO! Don't sweat the small stuff! I could have had dancing if I hadn't been so concerned about guests watching us leave...

3. Details. I think I did rather well with some details. However, if there had been fewer guests, my reception costs would have been less, therefore more money to go towards the details:)

4. Let my Dad cut his hair. Funny story...my Dad had had long hair since I was in 8th grade. He wanted to cut it before my wedding and I wouldn't let him because I was afraid that I wouldn't like it. It's his hair! He can do what he wants...why was I so picky?! After our wedding, he cut it and I LOVED it! He looked 10 years younger...really. So nice. And everyone was so shocked he cut it! See, I could have let him surprise everyone at the wedding...lol.
Love my Daddy:)
Those about sum it up...especially the details one:) When you plan your special day...stop, think, and take some time to talk to those of us who have already done it! Don't sweat the small stuff though...your day will be as perfect as you make it!
Here are a few more shots from our special day:

Happy wedding planning!
